This dainty crucifix pendant is precious. A high content of 14K yellow gold is double bonded over copper, and it is hypoallergenic. The back is smooth. The cross comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. A chain is not included. The bail loop is large enough to hold up to a 1/16” thick chain. A black velvet gift box is included, as well as a gray gift bag. (My camera made the box appear blue, but it is black.)
This is a small crucifix, 1" in size (1.25" including the bail). It would look best on a petite person. The pendant is a wonderful symbol that serves as a daily reminder of our Lord and Savior's great sacrifice. It would be ideal as a First Communion gift or keepsake. At the time of this review, it is a terrific value for the price, and I recommend it. If I saw it in a store, I would buy it.
This particular Cross has a nice, rich golden color (presumably, this is due to the cross being "double-bonded" rather than simply "gold-plated"...I've purchased gold-plated jewelry recently, and this particular item DOES look better). Also, although it's light, it *feels* solid to the touch, which gives me a good feeling regarding its durability. I would have to say that if you're looking for something that's more affordable than pure gold, yet just as good-looking as the real thing AND with a color tone more durable than simple gold-plating can provide, this could be the answer. The product name for this item says it’s a “slim gold crucifix necklace,” and several of the pictures in the product description show the crucifix on a chain. What is included is a dainty crucifix in a small box with a protective bag. The crucifix is only about 1 inch high. The ring and loop on the end provide the additional length as shown in the product description. I personally do not thing it’s really suitable for a man. The gold is lovely, and the loop is large enough to accommodate a variety of chain sizes and types. It looks very well made, and it does not look like the loop would open up and fall off the chain. There is not much detail on this crucifix, probably because it is so small. The photos in the product description are pretty accurate, although it looks larger in the photo with the lady wearing the crucifix on a chain.
This crucifix is beautiful in appearance, but it's very lightweight to the touch. If it were solid gold, it would have heft to it that this doesn't, which gives this a cheaper feel, but that's what you get for a $150 price point when gold is so expensive these days. The product page explains the "gold bonding" process a little bit, suggesting that the gold, atop copper, is thicker than it would be if it were simply gold plated. Although it is light in weight, it is rich in detail. Note that this does NOT include a chain.
